Healing Justice and Decolonial Wellness

The term Healing Justice was developed by the Kindred Southern Healing Justice Collective and has its origins in southern black liberator movement spaces. Rooting my practice in a healing justice framework means leading with the principle that we are working to heal not just ourselves but also addressing the systems that do us harm.

The roots of the wellness industrial complex run deep through the intersections of systems of oppression including capitalism, white supremacy, ableism, patriarchy and the carceral state.

Decolonizing our wellness means disrupting these systems at all levels: internally, interpersonally and systematically. This is Healing Justice in action.

We are unwell when we are disconnected from ourselves, one another and the land. Tending to these relationships heals us and is an act of resistance.
